Deadlines for registration of data controllers  to Data Controller Registry (“Registry”) as per the Law on Protection of Personal Data have been extended in accordance with the decision made by the Board of Protection of Personal Data on 23.06.2020. In this regard, the deadlines for completion of registration to Registry have been revised as follows:

  • Deadline for (i) real and legal persons of which the annual number of employees is more than 50 or the sum of annual financial budget is more than 25 million Turkish Liras and (ii) real and legal persons settled abroad has been extended until 30.09.2020,
  • Deadline for real and legal persons of which the annual number of employees is less than 50 and the sum of annual financial budget is less than 25 million Turkish Liras and of which the main field of activity is processing of special personal data has been extended until 31.03.2021,
  • Deadline for public authorities and institutions has been extended until 31.03.2021.

We kindly remind you that companies, of which the annual number of employees is less than 50 and the sum of annual financial budget is less than 25 million Turkish Liras, are exempt from liability to register to Registry, unless their main field of activity is processing special personal data.
