The prohibition on submission of post-dated cheques to the drawee bank for payment, has been extended until December 31, 2021.

Cheque Law numbered 5941 and dated December 14, 2009 (“Law”) has been amended with the Law on Prevention of Financing of Propagation of Weapons of Mass Destruction numbered 7262, which was recently published in the Official Gazette numbered 31351 and dated December 31, 2020. The deadline “December 31, 2020” in paragraph 5 of provisional article 3 of the Law was amended as “December 31, 2021”. Therefore, the prohibition on submission of post-dated cheques to the drawee bank, which was regulated under the Law to be applicable until December 31, 2020, was extended for a year until December 31, 2021. Accordingly, post-dated cheques may not be submitted to the drawee bank before the date stated thereon until December 31, 2021.
