Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority’s (“EMRA”) decision dated February 25, 2021 was published in the Official Gazette dated March 3, 2021 and numbered 31412 (“Decision”) has declared that the pre-license application right of 2.000 MW which was anticipated to be needed for new wind energy investments and connected to Turkish electrical system was revoked. The Decision is as follows:

“Energy Market Regulatory Authority meeting dated February 25, 2021; The Authority will not accept pre-license applications regarding wind energy of 2000 MW capacity due to Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation’s (“tr. TEİAŞ”) notification dated May 15, 2015 with barcode number BG5UA0ZC’ since the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has declared under the notification dated February 9, 2021 and numbered 21789 the wind plant capacity of 2.000 MW which was anticipated to be connected to Turkish electrical system until the end of 2020 was allocated to the investors in the scope of Regulation on Renewable Energy Resource Areas.”

According to the latest decision the capacity will be allocated for investments within the framework of the Regulation on Renewable Energy Resource Areas instead of licensed investments.
