OVERVIEW
Cem has been in legal practice for more than 30 years.
During his practice, Cem closed many largest transactions (as at such date) in Turkey in privatization, capital markets and M&A transactions. For seven years he formed and led the project finance team of one of Turkey’s largest private banks and represented the bank in its international borrowing transactions including syndications, bond offerings, securitizations, credit linked notes, bilateral loans and derivative transactions. During his tenure, he has also represented the bank as the largest lender in the restructuring of Turkey’s largest ever loan default. Separately he represented a number of hotel owners in their negotiations with international hotel operators. Cem also has developed experience in engaging foreign lawyers for cross border dispute litigation matters, while building strategy and supervising the process also offering regular reports to the client. Cem has regularly been in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist (100 most powerful inhouse legal counsels) during his bank tenure, also has been recognized by Chambers&Partners, IFLR and various other international ranking institutions throughout the years of his practice.
On a personal note, Cem is a sailor, attending races in seven seas.
